چکیده

Grid-enabled portals are becoming increasingly popular for scientific collaboration. Specifically, a portal can be viewed as a Grid-based problem-solving environment (PSE) that allows scientists to access distributed resources, and to monitor and execute distributed Grid applications from a Web browser. This paper describes the Grid-enabled GECEM portal, which serves as a web gateway to computational grids to access remote data files and remote grid services. The portal allows trusted users seamless access to computational resources and grid services, providing a userfriendly computing environment that takes advantages of the underlying Globus Toolkit middleware. The portal is built on GridSphere, which provides support for Grid-based computing. We have developed portlets to retrieve data, invoke grid services, and monitor job submission. We will demonstrate the use of GSI security, the resource registry, and credential management to support secure job submission. We also demonstrate the use of grid services to support migration of executables to remote sites. In this paper, we will present our experiences of developing our portal using GridSphere. We will present both ongoing work and planned future work for the project. The portal has been applied to electromagnetics; however, it can also be applied to other application domains. Keywords— Computational Electromagnetics, Portlets, Grid Services.

A Portlet Service Model for GECEM

Grid-enabled portals are popular as a means to create web-accessible problem-solving environments (PSEs) that allow scientists to access distributed resources, and to monitor and execute distributed Grid applications from a Web browser. In this paper, we describe a web-based portal, based on GridSphere portlets, that deploys services for discovery and management of distributed resources, and fo...

Lessons Learned from the GECEM Project

The Grid-Enabled Computational Electromagnetics project (GECEM) has developed a portal for performing electromagnetics simulations. The portal is based on the GridSphere portal framework and uses JSR168compliant portlets to access remote web services. The GECEM portal supports an execution pipeline that starts with an input geometry which is processed to generate surface and volume computationa...

GridSphere’s Grid Portlets

Grid portals are the most popular means for delivering user interfaces to Grids. Grid portals build upon the familiar Web portal model to offer virtual communities of users a single point of access to computational resources. The GridSphere Portal Framework is a Portlet JSR compliant portlet container that offers a set of base classes and tools for developing Web applications. The Grid Portlets...

Extending GTLAB Tag Libraries for Grid Workflows

Portlet-based Grid portals have become a crucial part of the cyberinfrastructure by providing component-based problem solving environments for scientists. Although portals aim to provide user-friendly environments with easy-to-use interfaces, the development of portals and their portlet components are time consuming. We aim to provide reusable components for rapid portlet development. Our appro...
